FC Bayern are regularly linked with top international talent, with the name Nimfasha Berchimas recently coming to the fore. However, there are now conflicting reports surrounding the US attacking talent – and apparently more confusion than concrete transfer plans
The starting point was a report by The Athletic, according to which FC Bayern are said to be in advanced talks with Charlotte FC about signing the 17-year-old. However, this report was soon put into perspective. The BILD podcast„Bayern Insider“ stated that Berchimas is „not an issue at Bayern“ – neither for the professional team nor for the campus
However, the name is not entirely new at Säbener Straße. Berchimas was already a guest in Munich three years ago and completed a trial training session at FC Bayern. However, no concrete negotiations took place at the time. Manchester United had also invited the left-back to a trial training session in the past
Berchimas trained at Charlotte FC and is regarded as one of the most exciting attacking talents of his age group in the USA. According to The Athletic, other top European clubs in addition to Bayern and Manchester United are also said to be keeping an eye on the youngster. He has attracted particular attention at youth level, most recently appearing for the US U20 national team and impressing at the recent World Cup with two goals and an assist
Nimfasha Berchimas is the same age as Lennart Karl to the day
Berchimas has so far gained his first professional experience at club level. He has made three appearances for Charlotte FC’s first team and has played far more often for the MLS club’s farm team in the MLS Next Pro, where he has made 44 appearances. Berchimas was born in Tanzania and his family moved to the USA shortly after his birth
There is also a remarkable parallel with FC Bayern itself: Berchimas comes of age at the end of February – on the same day as Bayern shooting star Lennart Karl. The attacking player made his breakthrough with the record champions in the first half of the season and has now made 18 Bundesliga appearances with four goals and two assists, as well as six Champions League games in which he scored three goals and provided one assist

Karl also made his debut for the German U21 national team in 2025 and can even justifiably hope to be named in Julian Nagelsmann’s senior squad for this summer’s World Cup
In Berchima’s case, however, there are currently many indications that there is no concrete Bayern approach, despite reports to the contrary. Whether this will change in the summer or the name will remain just another example of loose transfer rumours remains to be seen.
