The financial details of the loan deal between FC Bayern and Galatasaray have now been finalized, with the Turks‘ option to buy the player set to be as high as €15 million.
According to Sky, both clubs have agreed on a purchase option of around 15 million euros for Sacha Boey, plus a loan fee of around two million euros.
It all happened very quickly, with the two clubs having only been in contact since yesterday evening and a full agreement already being reached today. Boey is currently undergoing a medical examination at Galatasaray and if this goes smoothly, the transfer will be made official.
The deal is possible despite the already closed transfer window in Germany, as the transfer period in Turkey is still open. Galatasaray are using this special constellation to bring the right-back back at short notice – with the approval of FC Bayern.
Bayern would make a significant loss with Boey
From Munich’s perspective, the figures are remarkable. Boey cost around €30 million when he moved from Galatasaray to FC Bayern in January 2024. The purchase option that has now been agreed is therefore only around half of this sum. Nevertheless, the deal opens up a realistic opportunity for Bayern to get the player off the payroll permanently.
In sporting terms, Boey no longer played a role in FC Bayern’s plans. Several transfer options had previously failed, partly due to his comparatively high salary. The loan with an option to buy is therefore seen as a workable compromise for all parties involved.
For Galatasaray, the transfer means the return of a player who knows the club and the league very well. Boey gets the chance to play regularly, while FC Bayern is relieved financially, at least in the short term, and secures a clear perspective for the summer.
Whether Galatasaray will take up the option to buy depends largely on Boey’s performance in the coming months, but one thing is clear: the deal is an important step for Bayern in resolving a difficult transfer issue.
