In an interview with Sky, Ivan Rakitic was impressed by the development of Vuskovic, who is currently on loan from Tottenham to Hamburger SV. The former FC Barcelona star emphasized that the rapid rise was no coincidence. Rather, he praised the defender’s environment and its professional handling of the early hype. „It’s no coincidence either, because this boy is already doing a lot of things right together with his family. They are working really well,“ explained the Croatian. He is looking far beyond the next few months. „I hope that the Croatian national team will have a great central defender in the next ten or 15 years as a result.“
Rakitic on Vuskovic: „Should keep pushing“
In sporting terms, Rakitic already believes Vuskovic can make the leap to the absolute top. „He has everything he needs to become one of the best central defenders. He should keep stepping on the gas and enjoy it. There is a lot to suggest that we will have a huge player in the future,“ said the former international
At the same time, Rakitic questioned his prospects at his current English club. In his view, a long-term stay is anything but certain. „I’m curious to see whether Tottenham will manage to keep him beyond the summer, because for me he’s already ready for the next step to one of the absolute top clubs. And for me, there are only four or five of those in Europe,“ said Rakitic.
