FC Bayern Munich have made another personnel decision shortly before the transfer deadline. A young player is about to leave Säbener Straße, a move that will take him to a club with clear plans within the Bundesliga.
According to Sky, Moritz Göttlicher will leave FC Bayern Munich this winter. The 17-year-old midfielder has agreed a long-term contract with VfL Bochum. Göttlicher is set to sign a five-and-a-half-year deal that runs until 2031. The medical check is scheduled for Friday.
This means that the club and player will part ways earlier than originally planned. Göttlicher has played exclusively for Bayern’s U19s this season, but has gained match practice at several levels. In addition to appearances in the youth league, the right-footer has also played in the UEFA Youth League and for German junior national teams.

The transfer did not come out of the blue. According to the WAZ newspaper, both clubs had already agreed on the terms of the transfer a few days ago. For Bochum, the timing also played a role: Göttlicher would have been available on a free transfer in the summer, but the Revierklub wanted to sign the midfielder now and get down to business.
In sporting terms, the 17-year-old has impressive numbers. In FC Bayern’s current U19 season, he has scored four goals in seven league games and assisted a further two goals. He also scored in the U19 DFB Cup and made appearances in the Youth League. Göttlicher had already made a name for himself in the U17s last year with 17 scoring points in 27 competitive games.
VfL Bochum’s aim is to introduce the new signing to the professional game. The Bundesliga club already has several young players in its central midfield squad and continues to focus on talented players with development potential. Göttlicher is another building block in this plan, shortly before the end of the winter transfer period.
