Jamal Musiala is finally back on the pitch for FC Bayern. After his comeback, he revealed how the long injury break has shaped him
After having to take around six months off due to a fractured fibula suffered against Paris Saint-Germain at the Club World Cup, Jamal Musiala finally got back on the pitch last weekend in the 5-1 win over RB Leipzig – and was able to contribute an assist just one minute after coming on as a substitute.
Even though the exceptional Munich player did not play against Union Saint-Gilloise, one thing is certain: Musiala is back and can fully attack again. He has now spoken to FC Bayern TV in detail about his month-long break: „I’m alive again,“ Musiala said at the beginning, happy about his long-awaited return to the pitch.
The 22-year-old went on to explain that he „sees the injury as a great learning experience. You learn more about yourself and are put to the toughest test. Rehab is no fun. It’s always something worse than the previous time. You have to come back in top form and hopefully better than before.“
„New chapter with a new shirt number“
Although rehab was certainly no walk in the park for Musiala, he noted that he „couldn’t have felt better“ with the way everything went. „I love being on the pitch so much. The feeling of watching games is completely different to being on the pitch. You become even more aware of that after an injury like this,“ the dribbling artist continued
His comeback marks the start of „a new chapter for him – with a new shirt number. Robben was my favourite player with the number 10 when I was a child. You have a big responsibility when you wear that number. I hope I come back a better player,“ Musiala concluded.
