Jamal Musiala is back on the pitch – and he hasn’t wasted any time. After 196 days out injured, the 22-year-old celebrated his comeback in FC Bayern’s 5-1 away win at RB Leipzig and quickly proved that he has lost none of his class. The fans were absolutely ecstatic after the game
Just 76 seconds after coming on as a substitute, the international was at the heart of a scene that was emblematic of his game: overview, ease and the decisive moment
Vincent Kompany introduced Musiala in the 87th minute. The score was already clear, but the returnee wanted to do more than just collect minutes. After a quick attack, Musiala received the ball around 13 metres in front of goal, kept his composure and laid it off to Michael Olise with a fine pass. The Frenchman didn’t need to be asked twice and confidently placed the ball into the top right-hand corner – 5:1, the final goal of a memorable evening

The scene seems all the more impressive when you consider the months behind Musiala. In the quarter-final of the 2025 Club World Cup against Paris Saint-Germain, the Bayern star suffered a severe ankle dislocation and a fibula fracture in a duel with PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. It was clear from that moment that this was a serious injury. Surgery, rehab, setbacks – and patience – followed. A lot of patience
Now, more than half a year later, Musiala is back – fit, lively and with the naturalness that has made him one of the best attacking players in Europe. The assist in Leipzig was no coincidence, but an expression of his feel for the game. Musiala doesn’t need a rhythm over several games – he is immediately present

The reactions were correspondingly emotional – not only on the pitch, but also in the stands and on social media. One X user wrote after the game: „Everyone’s favourite and adored by everyone“ and added: „Today is a holiday for me. I’ve never been so happy.“ Another user confessed: „Omg I have goosebumps everywhere.“ Even the Leipzig camp showed their appreciation. „The stadium went crazy, even the Leipzigers were happy for Jamal,“ another post read
The comeback did not go unnoticed internationally either, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano praising the Bayern star’s return with the words: „He’s back! Musiala is back with an assist after a long injury break.“
Musiala’s return is a sporting and emotional win for FC Bayern. After 196 days out injured, he only needs 76 seconds to be decisive again. It’s hard to imagine a better comeback.
