Gnabry waives salary for new contract
One concrete scenario is already on the table. According to consistent media reports, Gnabry could receive a new two-year contract until 2028. The 30-year-old is said to be prepared in principle to make financial sacrifices. The DFB international is currently one of the top earners at the record champions with an annual salary of up to 18 million euros. However, a stronger focus on performance plays a central role in the new contract talks
According to BILD, Gnabry would earn a maximum of around €15 million per year in future, including bonuses. It remains to be seen how high the guaranteed basic salary will be and what proportion will be variable, but one thing is clear: FC Bayern wants to further optimize its salary structure and is increasingly focusing on performance-related models
The distribution of power in this personnel matter is explosive. As contracts and transfers below the €50 million threshold do not require the approval of the supervisory board, Eberl and Freund could theoretically push ahead with the extension on their own. It remains to be seen whether they will go down this route or whether the sceptical voices within the club will prevail
