Munich could host another CL final: Bayern CEO Dreesen confirms bid for 2028 – the Allianz Arena has a very good chance
Just three years after the big Champions League final in 2025, Munich could once again become the center of European club soccer. According to the latest reports, the Bavarian capital is the only remaining candidate to host the final of the premier league in 2028. Official confirmation is still pending, but the signs are clearly pointing to Munich – also from FC Bayern’s point of view
Dreesen confirms schedule – decision will be made in fall 2026

In an interview with t-online, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen explained the current state of affairs and gave a concrete timetable. According to this, the city of Munich must submit a formal bid to UEFA by June 2026. „We are currently the only bidder,“ Dreesen emphasized. The final decision will then be made by the UEFA Executive Committee in September 2026
Even though the bid is formally supported by the city, FC Bayern is closely involved – at least in the background. Although the record champions are not taking an active role, the stance at Säbener Straße is clear
Allianz Arena as a strong argument for UEFA
Dreesen made no secret of the fact that FC Bayern would expressly welcome another Champions League final at the Allianz Arena. „Of course we’re making an effort, that’s clear. With the Allianz Arena, we have the perfect infrastructure for such a big final, UEFA knows that too,“ explained the 58-year-old confidently
In fact, the Allianz Arena is internationally regarded as one of the most modern soccer temples in Europe, and its organization, logistics and security concepts have already proven themselves at previous major events – not least at the Champions League final in 2012 and most recently in 2025
If Munich wins the bid, it would be another prestigious success for Germany as a soccer location – and a strong signal for FC Bayern, which would once again present itself as a key player on the European stage. At present, there is much to suggest that Munich is the way forward.
