Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has now provided the decisive confirmation: Upamecano and his advisors have accepted FC Bayern’s contract offer. There is agreement on salary, bonuses and duration. The deal is on the home straight
Bayern and Upamecano only have to finalize the exit clause
This is an enormously important signal for FC Bayern. Upamecano’s performances under Vincent Kompany not only brought him to the fore in sporting terms, but also aroused the interest of numerous top European clubs. It is therefore all the more remarkable that the record champions have apparently prevailed in their bid for the 27-year-old. According to Romano, Munich presented „the best overall financial package“. However, the deal has not yet been finalised. The last outstanding point concerns the exit clause. Bayern are prepared in principle to grant the Frenchman such a clause. However, the exact form it will take is still being discussed: when it will take effect and how much it will be set at. Only once this issue has been clarified can the contract be finally signed
Nevertheless, one thing is clear: the big breakthrough has been achieved. After months of feeling things out, playing poker and waiting, everything points to FC Bayern tying down its defender for the long term. A strong sign – both in sporting and strategic terms.
