After the 5-0 test match victory in Salzburg, Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl is optimistic, saying that a lot is possible for the record champions this season
FC Bayern mastered the first and final endurance test before the start of the second half of the season with ease. Vincent Kompany’s team showed great enthusiasm, concentration and physicality in their 5-0 victory over Red Bull Salzburg in a test match. Sporting director Max Eberl was correspondingly satisfied after the final whistle – and is already looking clearly to the future
Eberl believes Bayern are ideally positioned
„We have created an outstanding starting position in all three competitions,“ explained the 52-year-old after the game. This refers to the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB Cup, in which the record champions are fully on course at the halfway point of the season. The decisive factor now is not to take this status for granted, but to see it as an obligation
In particular, Eberl emphasized the style of play that should characterize Bayern in the coming months. „If we continue to actively score goals as a team and actively defend – as we did in the first half of the season – a lot is possible this season,“ said the sporting director. It’s less about individual actions and more about collective intensity and consistency
Focus on the right moment
At the same time, Eberl warned against leaning too far out of the window already. The path to the top is not a sprint, but a process. „We want to work our way up to this level bit by bit. Our goal is to keep getting back into shape and to be there at the decisive moment,“ he explained
Eberl is particularly positive about the current state of the squad, saying that the team has „good quality, is hungry and fit“ – qualities that can make the difference in a long and exhausting second half of the season
The clear tenor after the performance in Salzburg: FC Bayern is aware of its strength, but remains consciously in work mode. The prerequisites are right – now it is a matter of turning them into titles at the decisive moment.
