Even without currently being on the pitch, Jamal Musiala remains one of the emotional faces of FC Bayern. The 22-year-old is still working on his comeback, but just how important he is to the club and the fans was impressively demonstrated during a fan club visit to Simbach am Inn
Around 1,000 fans flocked to the Lokschuppen to experience the Bayern star up close. Musiala took plenty of time, signed autographs, took photos and made the youngest fans in particular smile. The DFB international stayed on site for more than two hours – relaxed, approachable and in a good mood
Closeness to the fans and small insights off the pitch
Musiala got involved in spontaneous activities, played a game of soccer on the Playstation with children and gratefully accepted self-painted pictures and small gifts. At the end, he received a chessboard – a gift with a personal touch. During his injury break, he discovered chess for himself, the attacking player revealed with a grin. Although Harry Kane, Joshua Kimmich and Michael Olise are still a tick ahead of him within the team, Musiala announced that he wants to „get a bit better“ and annoy his colleagues soon
The Bayern star was also open away from the pitch, talking about his vacation in Dubai over New Year’s Eve, where he sampled a little wine with his family, and spoke about his former role models Lionel Messi and Neymar. „I was nervous when I played against them. I was even a bit scared to ask them for the jersey,“ Musiala admitted honestly
Clear words on the contract extension until 2030
The most emotional moment of the evening came when Musiala spoke about his contract extension with FC Bayern. Almost a year ago, he had extended his long-term contract until 2030, after there had been repeated rumours of a possible departure. In Simbach, he left no doubt about this
„I see Bayern like a family to me,“ explained the 22-year-old. „There were no other thoughts in my head than to spend the next few years here.“ Words that were received with long applause in the hall
Finally, Musiala was made an honorary member of the fan club – a symbolic act that underlined the special bond between the exceptional player and the Bayern fans. For FC Bayern, Musiala has long been more than just a top performer. He is a face of the club – both in sporting and personal terms.
