FC Bayern’s transfer plans are picking up speed, with interest in a midfielder who is reportedly on the radar of several top clubs
FC Bayern are planning their squad for the future – and now a completely new name has appeared on the list of possible reinforcements: Ederson Castillo. According to the Bolivian portal BOLAVIP, the Munich club, along with Manchester United and Atlético Madrid, are said to be interested in the 17-year-old defensive midfielder from LDU Quito. Castillo is regarded as one of the most exciting talents of his age group in South America. Castillo can only move to a new club in Europe next year when he turns 18. Castillo could make the leap to Europe as early as next year – and the German record champions apparently want to stay in the race
Are Bayern bringing in a talented midfielder?
There could be a need for action in midfield at Bayern this summer. Leon Goretzka’s contract expires at the end of the season and it is increasingly likely that the German international will leave on a free transfer. Although Munich are basically well-stocked in central midfield with Joshua Kimmich, home-grown Aleksandar Pavlovic and Tom Bischof, the club is exploring the market in the long term – especially for young, developable players who can grow into the first team in the medium term
Castillo would fit this profile perfectly. Bayern have also been keeping a close eye on the South American market of late. But the competition is clearly also serious about Castillo: Manchester United are urgently looking for promising players in defensive midfield, while Atlético Madrid traditionally do a lot of scouting in South America.
