This is bitter news: a duo of FC Bayern players will be out for several months due to injury
FC Bayern have suffered a double setback in the youth ranks. As the club announced on its website on Thursday, goalkeeper Leon Klanac and midfield talent Tim Binder will be out for „several months“. Both had recently been training regularly with the professionals, Klanac has even been in the Bundesliga squad several times – but now an injury has forced them to take an unexpected break from their development
Klanac, 19 years old and goalkeeper of the second team, suffered a thigh injury. The goalkeeper had already played 13 games in the Bayern regional league this season and was one of the reliable mainstays there. Binder, 18, is also unavailable long-term due to a foot injury. The winger has made twelve appearances for Bayern II so far and was also part of the professional squad four times. Both absences come at an inopportune time for the talents, but have no impact on the professional team
As the Youth League has been over for FC Bayern since the end of November and the regional league does not resume until 20 February, neither will miss any crucial games for the time being. Nevertheless, the diagnosis means a significant delay for Klanac and Binder on their path to professional soccer. Munich recently had high hopes for the duo. Campus boss Jochen Sauer described Klanac as „one of the most promising goalkeeping talents in Germany“ in autumn 2024. Binder was also regarded as a player with prospects who had recommended himself for higher tasks with strong training performances
Klanac and Binder will miss the Bayern amateurs
Both youngsters are still under contract with the record champions until the summer of 2027, who have long-term plans for them. It remains to be seen when they will be able to return to team training. The loss of two regulars is nevertheless a burden for Bayern II, even though the team is currently in a secure mid-table position in the Bavarian regional league

While the professionals under Vincent Kompany remain in rhythm, the club has been hit by two pieces of bitter news in the youth sector. For Klanac and Binder, a phase of rehab and patient recovery now begins – with the hope of being back on the pitch in the spring and continuing their development at the Bayern campus.
