The name Dario Osorio probably means little to most soccer fans in Germany. However, that could soon change. The Chilean attacking gem, who has developed impressively since his move to Midtjylland in the summer of 2023, is now apparently the focus of several big clubs – including FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund
As TNT Sports reports, numerous clubs have recently stepped up their scouting and watched the 21-year-old at a local cup match
Representatives of FC Bayern, BVB, Hertha BSC and Premier League clubs Liverpool FC, West Ham United and AFC Bournemouth are said to have been in the stands for the Danish cup tie between Midtjylland and Nordsjælland. Osorio played around 60 minutes on the pitch and certainly impressed. The 21-time Chile international is regarded as one of his country’s biggest talents and has long since made a name for himself in Europe
Osorio moved to Denmark from Universidad de Chile for €5.2 million in 2023 – a transfer in which Borussia Mönchengladbach had also shown interest, although talks did not materialise. Osorio has quickly found his feet in Midtjylland under former BVB youth coach Mike Tullberg. In 27 competitive matches this season, he has scored six goals and provided eight assists – strong figures for a player who can fill several roles at once
A variable attacking player with great potential
The 21-year-old can be deployed flexibly and is therefore likely to be sought after in the top international market. Osorio most frequently plays on the right wing or as a right wing-back, but he has also been deployed on the left, in central midfield or as a hanging midfielder. His dynamism, courageous one-on-one play and good understanding of the game make him a versatile attacking player who can quickly adapt tactically
Osorio’s contract with Midtjylland runs until 2028, but it remains to be seen how much a potential transfer fee could be. Whether a transfer in the winter or summer is realistic depends largely on the willingness of interested parties to pay
Bayern and BVB in competition – but no concrete talks yet
Even though the scouts were prominent, no concrete negotiations are known so far. The observations are likely to serve the primary purpose of closely monitoring Osorio’s development and gaining a detailed picture of his profile. The 21-year-old could be of interest to both Bayern and Dortmund in the future – especially as both clubs are focusing on long-term squad planning in the attacking area.
