FC Bayern are apparently working on a permanent separation from Alexander Nübel – preferably as soon as possible. The club is looking to the Premier League
According to information from BILD head of soccer Christian Falk, the goalkeeper has no future with the record champions and the club wants to sell him at the earliest possible opportunity
The big sticking point: Nübel’s salary. At around 10 million euros per year, the goalkeeper is in the absolute top range. Bayern is paying two thirds of this sum to VfB Stuttgart during the current loan period – a package that is already difficult even for the Swabians to afford. Whether Stuttgart can extend the loan or even sign Nübel permanently is considered extremely questionable
This brings to the fore a scenario that Munich are now examining in concrete terms: a move to the Premier League. FC Bayern are currently considering a club from the Premier League, where there are clubs that would be financially able to take on Nübel’s salary – a basic prerequisite for being able to resolve the personnel issue at all
At the same time, Falk emphasizes that Nübel is still highly rated in sporting terms despite this situation: „Ultimately, Alexander Nübel is still a very good goalkeeper who has the chance to become Germany’s next national goalkeeper.“ This is precisely why an English club might be prepared to take on the package – a German club is unlikely to do so
Urbig is likely to succeed Neuer at FC Bayern
Nübel did not cut a happy figure in the most recent clash between VfB Stuttgart and FC Bayern , but Jonas Urbig, who replaced Manuel Neuer in the Bayern goal, put in an assured performance
There are also structural reasons for Nübel’s planned departure. The club is clearly banking on Urbig in the long term, who is already being prepared as Neuer’s successor. Daniel Peretz is to be developed as a potential new number two. The management team sees both goalkeepers as a duo with a promising future – there would no longer be room for Nübel in this constellation

As Neuer is currently set to extend his contract, Nübel’s lack of prospects is further exacerbated. Bayern therefore want a clean solution – preferably in the winter, but no later than the summer. The Premier League is seen as a realistic market.
