FC Bayern wins 3:1 at home against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League. The Bayern stars in the FCBinside individual review.
Manuel Neuer: Made a strong reflex save after a Tah clearance came dangerously close to goal. Neuer could do nothing about Kimmich’s own goal. Grade: 2
Konrad Laimer: Didn’t have too much to do defensively as a right-back against the Portuguese. The Austrian then repeatedly contributed well in attack and formed a dangerous duo together with Olise. Decent game from Laimer. Grade: 3
Dayot Upamecano: Played attentively and consistently in the tackle. Didn’t let anything get in the way at the back. Got a dangerous header in front once, but Rui Silva was able to hold. Saved a dangerous Sporting attack with a sliding tackle in the final phase. Upamecano shone, strong performance! Grade: 2
Jonathan Tah: An attempted clearance from Tah could have ended up in his own goal, but Neuer had the presence of mind to make the save. Tah allowed himself to be played too easily before Kimmich’s own goal. Set up Karl’s goal to make it 2:1 with a strong ball win in the center and ultimately made the difference with his own goal. Mark: 2
Josip Stanisic: Had a good chance with a header shortly before half-time, but missed the ball. Otherwise, was always alert and made several dangerous contributions up front. Mark: 3
Joshua Kimmich: Played a solid game in the first half and played some clever passes. Then came the shock at the start of the second half: Kimmich scored after an unfortunate sliding tackle into his own goal to make it 0-1. Then played the cross to Gnabry in front of Tah’s goal. Overall grade: 4
Aleksandar Pavlovic: Made an effort, but never got the game completely under control in the center. Showed good approaches again and again, though. Grade: 3
Michael Olise: Made things difficult for his opponents with several good dribbles. Many of Bayern’s attacks ran down his right flank. Set up Gnabry’s 1:1 with his corner kick. Set up Karl’s 2:1 with his pass to Laimer, who had prepared the ball. Good game from the Frenchman! Grade: 2

Lennart Karl: Provided the first cheers in the Allianz Arena, but his goal was disallowed due to Gnabry being offside. Then had a chance from a good position, but the ball bounced awkwardly in front of him and the youngster put it well over the goal. Then failed after a great dribble against goalkeeper Rui Silva, who made a brilliant save to keep out Karl’s right-footed shot from close range. It finally worked when he scored to make it 2:1: After preparatory work from Laimer, the 17-year-old converted with the right. Overall, Karl was always dangerous and caused a stir. Good game! Grade: 2
Serge Gnabry: Got into a good position after a fine long pass from Kimmich, but placed the ball just wide of the goal. Moved quickly inside the penalty area shortly afterwards and shot, but Sporting keeper Rui Silva was able to hold. Then scored the equaliser from close range to make it 1:1 after a corner from Olise. Set up the 3:1 through Tah with his header. Mark: 2
Harry Kane : First had a (not too dangerous) shot on goal in the first half, but guest goalkeeper Rui Silva was able to hold on. Then Kane shot left-footed – and only hit the far post. Had no other dangerous actions, but played very well for the team. Mark: 3
