The 39-year-old told Sky about a possible contract extension: „The decisive factor will be how I feel. We’ll see in the second half of the season. I’ll give it more thought in March during the international break.“
Eberl confirms time for talks
Director of Sport Max Eberl recently mentioned a similar date for contract talks with Neuer. In an interview with Sport BILD, he said: „Manu will turn 40 in March, and we will discuss his future after that. We don’t need to talk about prospects with him, it’s about a feeling. And at the moment he feels totally comfortable and we have a great feeling about him.“
Jonas Urbig – Bayern’s current number two – is probably the most likely candidate to replace Neuer. Eberl expressed his confidence in Urbig: „In Jonas, we have someone with whom we are prepared for the day – whenever it comes. We are sure that he is a candidate who can fill Manuel’s shoes.“
