Dayot Upamecano has already played against some of the best attackers in the world in his career – now the FC Bayern defender has revealed which strikers have demanded the most from him.
In an interview with French newspaper L’Équipe, the 27-year-old named his personal top 5 toughest opponents: Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembélé, Kylian Mbappé and Serhou Guirassy.
The aforementioned attackers were not just opponents for Upamecano, but also teammates: he played with Kane and Lewandowski at FC Bayern, and together with Dembélé, Mbappé and Guirassy in the French national team.
Remarkably, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, considered by many to be one of the most dangerous attackers in the world, does not appear in Upamecano’s list at all
Will Upamecano extend his contract at FC Bayern?
Upamecano’s contract at FC Bayern runs until the summer of 2026. Munich are working intensively on an extension with the 27-year-old. Both Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, who are responsible for the sport, and coach Vincent Kompany have repeatedly emphasized how important he is for their long-term planning

At the same time, however, the Frenchman has been repeatedly linked with top clubs such as Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. According to information from transfer expert Fabrice Hawkins, PSG are said to be prepared to make an offer if no agreement is reached in Munich. However, FC Bayern want to prevent this and, according to various media reports, have already made a long-term and well-paid offer to their defensive boss
Regardless of this, Upamecano currently enjoys the highest level of trust at the record champions. Under Kompany, he has developed into one of the most consistent defenders in Europe – who can compete with the best strikers in the world.
