Leroy Sané is still under contract with FC Bayern until the summer of 2025, and Munich would like to extend the international’s contract. A decision on his future would have to be made this summer so that the winger could still be sold at a profit if no agreement is reached. However, talks regarding Sané’s future are apparently not yet imminent.
According to Sky, FC Bayern do not expect to make a final decision on Leroy Sané’s future before next month’s European Championship. The 28-year-old is currently fully focussed on the upcoming tournament in his home country. According to the report, Bayern would like to continue working with the winger beyond the coming season.
Alongside Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies and Joshua Kimmich, Sané is one of the regulars at the German record champions, whose contract expires next summer. As soon as he arrived, sporting director Max Eberl announced that the club did not want to lose any more valuable players on a free transfer in the future, which is why the Sané issue, among others, should be resolved as quickly as possible. However, those responsible at Bayern will have to be patient a little longer.
Good relationship with Bayern coach Kompany
Nevertheless, the signs are currently more in favour of the 28-year-old extending his contract with the German record champions. A dinner between Sané and Eberl recently took place and good talks were held. The player has also hinted at staying in the past. After the bitter elimination against Real Madrid in the Premier League, the German international addressed the fans via Instagram and spoke about making amends in the Dahoam 2025 final.
What’s more, an old acquaintance of Sané’s will be on the touchline in Munich next season. Vincent Kompany knows the winger from their time together at Manchester City and would certainly be happy to continue working with him. Playing under his former favourite team-mate could also be a further incentive for Sané to stay.
