Kingsley Coman was out injured for most of last season. Now he wants to be fit again, at least for the European Championships . At the moment, it is still questionable whether he will actually be able to take part in the tournament.

Five and a half weeks after Kingsley Coman tore a muscle bundle in his right adductor in the 2-0 win against 1. FC Köln, the Frenchman went down again in rehab training with his face contorted in pain. He twisted his ankle during a loose dribble and held his left knee.

However, he was quickly given the all-clear. Team doctor Dr Jochen Hahne was unable to detect any injury when he checked the inner and outer ligaments as well as the cruciate ligament for irregularities. The sports physician then helped his patient up. He was even able to hobble into the dressing room without assistance.

Coman continues to work on his comeback

As BILD has now reported, Coman has been working intensively since the start of the week on his comeback in time for the European Championship. On Monday morning, he trained together with Simon Martinello, FC Bayern’s rehab coach, at the training ground on Säbener Straße. The two completed some running sessions together, with and without the ball on his feet. It remains to be seen whether Coman will be fit in time as a result of the rehabilitation training.

Nevertheless, he has already been included in the provisional European Championship squad by French national team coach Didier Deschamps. So while the French winger can continue to believe in his participation in the tournament, things look much worse for one of his team-mates. Raphael Guerreiro will not be taking part in EURO 2024 and has not been called up to the Portugal national team squad.

The reason for this is a ligament and capsule injury in his ankle, which the 30-year-old suffered in the 3-1 defeat in Stuttgart. Under no circumstances would Guerreiro have been fit for the start of the tournament.
