Coach candidate at Bayern? Hamann brings a whole new name into play

Following reports during the week that Thomas Tuchel would remain at FC Bayern, this solution has also been history since Friday. Sky expert Dietmar Hamann suggests a completely new name.

Now that Thomas Tuchel has finally left, the search for a coach at FC Bayern is entering the next round. While the name Roberto De Zerbi in particular seemed to be getting hotter again, sporting director Max Eberl ruled out the Brighton & Hove Albion coach’s involvement after the Hoffenheim game.

Sky pundit Dietmar Hamann, however, has another Premier League coach in mind who he could possibly imagine as Bayern coach.

If Ange Postecoglou, who is currently Tottenham coach, does indeed resign after what Hamann describes as a very eventful week at Spurs, he would be a suitable candidate for the job at FC Bayern. „He’s a top man on and off the pitch, he would be a good fit for Bayern,“ said Hammen on Sky.

Ange Postecoglou or Jose Mourinho?

Postecoglou was „very disillusioned“ after the game against Manchester City, after his own fans had wished for a defeat to prevent Arsenal’s arch-enemy from winning the championship. The Spurs coach had described the club’s foundations as „pretty fragile“.

He went on to say: „It’s probably the worst experience I’ve had as a football coach in a game.“ It is therefore questionable, at least for once, whether the Australian wants to continue as Tottenham coach after the season.

Hamann believes that the German record champions „don’t need a tactics expert“ à la Roberto de Zerbi, but rather a „moderator“. Jose Mourinho, whom the 50-year-old had already suggested a few weeks ago, could also be such a coach. At the time, he explained on Sky90 that you can think what you like about Mourinho, „but at Chelsea, for example, the players loved him. He is also an excellent man professionally.“
