Matthäus and Hamann settle accounts with Bayern: „Catastrophic face“

After the 4:2 defeat in Hoffenheim, FC Bayern could only finish the current Bundesliga season in third place. Sky experts and former Bayern stars Lothar Matthäus and Dietmar Hamann are shocked by the situation at the German record champions.

Despite taking an early 2-0 lead, FC Bayern surrendered what they thought was a certain victory against Hoffenheim on Saturday and ultimately lost 4-2. As a result, Munich also lost second place in the Bundesliga and now have to line up behind VfB Stuttgart, who recorded a clear 4-0 home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Sky pundit Dietmar Hamann believes that FCB are showing „a catastrophic face on and off the pitch“, as he said on Sky after the last Bundesliga matchday. For him, the new German champions Bayer Leverkusen are clearly the favourites for the coming Bundesliga season „and if Bayern don’t turn 180 degrees and move closer together, not just the team, but also the club and coach, then I wouldn’t be surprised if the gap is just as big next year,“ the 50-year-old continued.

For Lothar Matthäus, even the word „Hollywood“ is an understatement for the current situation at the Isar. With regard to the seemingly chaotic search for a coach, the record international said: „What’s happening there is yet another step up.“ The 63-year-old is surprised that Thomas Tuchel was still considering staying in Munich, because „there is simply no consensus internally and therefore many cancellations.“

Dietmar Hamann brings Premier League coach into the conversation

Now that Roberto De Zerbi is no longer an option for Tuchel’s successor, Dietmar Hamann brought another Premier League candidate into the discussion on Sky.

According to Hamann, the Australian would be good for Bayern. „He’s a top man on and off the pitch,“ he said on Sky.
