Ex-Bayern talent Joshua Zirkzee stirred up Serie A at FC Bologna this season. The Dutchman left the German record champions in 2022, but the Bayern bosses secured a buy-back clause. Nevertheless, despite the striker’s impressive performances, it appears that a return will not materialise next summer.
As reported by Sky, a return of Zirkzee to Säbener Straße is extremely unlikely. The Dutchman would prefer to stay in Serie A and take the next step to a top club there. At the moment, concrete talks are already taking place with AC Milan and Juventus. Bayern would still benefit from a move for Zirkzee this summer, even if the 22-year-old does not return.
The attacker has a fixed transfer fee of €40 million in his contract with FC Bologna. When the talented striker was released after two loan spells in 2022, the club also secured a 50 per cent sell-on clause. This means that Munich would not only be able to strike for €20 million this summer, but would also receive the same amount if the 22-year-old were to move on from Bologna.
No Zirkzee return in the summer
A return is unlikely to materialise, as the Serie A shooting star will not be lining up behind Harry Kane. Although those responsible at Munich are keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding Zirkzee, there would still be no getting round Kane. The German record champions would therefore not be able to fulfil the striker’s ambitions.

Zirkzee flourished in his second season at Bologna and developed into one of the best attackers in the Italian league. Shortly before the end of the season, the Dutchman surprisingly finished third in the table with his club, enabling Bologna to qualify for the Champions League for the first time. This season, the 22-year-old has scored 11 goals in Serie A and is on the radar of some of Europe’s top clubs.
