According to consistent media reports, Bayern bosses are currently negotiating with Thomas Tuchel about cancelling their separation agreement at the end of the current season. As has now become known, the Munich club would like to reach a final decision in the course of the week.
FC Bayern would like to start the new season with Thomas Tuchel. As reported by Sky and BILD, those responsible at Säbener Straße made this fundamental decision at the beginning of the week and are currently in dialogue with the 50-year-old’s management.
Tuchel is also open to remaining at the club, but this is still up in the air. The reason: while Bayern would simply continue to run the original contract until the summer of 2025, the coaching side is apparently demanding a longer term.
Tuchel attaches great importance to the fact that he does not have to serve as an „emergency solution“ after all the cancellations, as reported by BILD. Sky is also reporting on this demand. According to reports, a new contract until at least 2026 is on the table.
Bayern want clarity quickly in the Tuchel case
An extension with Tuchel has not been categorically ruled out at FCB. The problem: The club has already paid a low double-digit million amount for severance payments in recent years, as it has parted ways with coaches and managers at an early stage. In plain language, this means that if Tuchel is extended now, a potential separation in 2025 would be expensive again. With his current contract, on the other hand, no severance pay would be due.
As things stand, it is completely unclear whether the club and coach will reach an agreement. However, Bayern bosses want „swift clarity in the Tuchel poker“, according to BILD. Accordingly, they would like to reach a decision by the end of the week.
Tuchel advisor Olaf Meinking was already at Säbener Straße yesterday and met with Max Eberl and Co. Further talks are planned for the coming days.
