As FC Bayern Munich continues to build its future, the club has made a decisive move for the talented Malik Tillman. The 21-year-old midfielder, who played for the German record champions as a youth player, is now moving permanently to PSV Eindhoven. However, Munich are securing important options for the future.
According to Sky, FC Bayern has received a transfer fee of 12.5 million euros for Tillman’s transfer to PSV Eindhoven. The agreement not only includes a financial gain for Bayern, but also strategic security. Bayern has secured both a buy-back option and a matching right. This gives FCB the opportunity to buy Tillman back or respond to further transfer offers if he establishes himself as a top player at PSV.
Tillman with a strong season in Eindhoven
Malik Tillman, who came to Munich from SpVgg Greuther Fürth in 2015, was unable to establish himself in the FC Bayern first team despite his talent. He scored one goal in his seven competitive matches for the Bayern professionals. In the process, he gained experience at the highest level, including matches in the Champions League and Bundesliga. In 2020, he was even part of the German record champions‘ squad that won the Champions League title.
During his loan to PSV, he attracted attention with strong performances. In a total of 26 league games, the 21-year-old scored nine goals and set up a further eleven. Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund was full of praise for Tillman: „He came to us as a youth player and has developed into a professional here. He has now become a key player in Eindhoven.“ Freund went on to emphasise that Tillman continues the long list of young talents who have trained at Bayern and made their mark in professional football.
