FC Bayern are making their final preparations ahead of the eagerly awaited Champions League semi-final second leg at Real Madrid (Wednesday, 9pm). Coach Thomas Tuchel can call on almost all of his top players again just in time for the thrilling clash.
After the 2:2 draw in the first leg, Bayern have every chance of securing their place in the Champions League final in the second leg. However, Munich will need a top performance at the Bernabeu in Madrid to knock the Whites out of the competition for the first time since 2012. It is therefore all the more important that the complicated personnel situation eases at exactly the right time. As the Munich AZ reporters reported, Matthijs de Ligt, Eric Dier, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané were all able to take part in the final training session and are ready for a big evening in the Spanish capital.
Tuchel breathes a sigh of relief: star quartet ready for action in time
The return of Matthijs de Ligt is particularly important for FC Bayern after the Dutchman had to miss the first leg due to a knee injury. However, it is also important that Eric Dier is fit for action following his laceration in the Stuttgart game. The Englishman has made a much more stable impression in recent weeks than Minjae Kim and Dayot Upamecano. Tuchel can therefore rely on his currently favoured duo.
The two attacking players Leroy Sané and Jamal Musiala have been struggling with injuries for some time now. Sané has only featured irregularly of late due to pubic bone pain, while Musiala has been hampered by tendon irritation. Now, however, both players should be fit and use their individual class to shake up the Real defence.
Bayern will be without Guerreiro and Coman
As expected, Raphael Guerreiro, Kingsley Coman, Sacha Boey and Bouna Sarr were unable to take part in the final training session. The absences of the in-form Portuguese, who suffered a ligament and capsule injury in his ankle against Stuttgart, and Coman, who is always good for a goal in big games, are particularly bitter. However, the Frenchman is making good progress after his muscle injury and, according to Fabrizio Romano, could be ready to play in a possible Champions League final.
Harry Kane, Kim, Laimer, …?
