FC Bayern is back in the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since winning the treble in 2020, but Thomas Tuchel will leave FCB in the summer. According to Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, there is no going back.
Although Bayern’s form has been steadily improving for weeks and the record champions still have a realistic chance of reaching the Champions League final, Thomas Tuchel will leave the club at the end of the season.
Even an online petition signed by almost 20,000 people will not change this, as Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen made clear: „You have to evaluate things based on the situation by making decisions and it was a completely different situation back then. Now we have a new situation,“ he explained.
„Going our separate ways happily together“
Even success in the top flight will not change the decision of the Bayern bosses: „I think we all realise that there is only one goal now, namely to reach the final. And when we’ve got that far, we’ll hopefully also take care of winning. Then we’ll be happy together and go our separate ways.
Bayern have already found a successor in Ralf Rangnick. The 65-year-old’s move to the Isar is drawing ever closer. Rangnick has already given the Munich club a commitment in principle.
