Dayot Upamecano’s current situation at FC Bayern is not only a concern for those in charge in Munich, but also in France, where the defender’s development is a cause for concern. The former regular defender has had to make do with a reserve role at FCB for some time now.
At the start of this season, Dayot Upamecano was still one of the undisputed pillars of FC Bayern’s defence under coach Thomas Tuchel. However, this role has changed over the course of the second half of the season. Matthijs de Ligt and Eric Dier appear to be set in Munich’s central defence ahead of the crucial Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid. The Frenchman, on the other hand, is mainly on the bench and is repeatedly criticised. It’s a situation that Marcel Desailly, France’s 1998 world champion, describes as „sad“.
„Together with Ibrahima Konaté, he forms a strong defence in France’s team. If you had to make a change there or if one of them was in poor form – the two would be hard to replace and that would be a problem for France,“ he emphasised on the sidelines of the Laureus Awards.
Coman? „It will be difficult for him“
While Upamecano is fighting for his place, Kingsley Coman is facing other challenges. After several injuries and a knee injury that he has only just overcome, he recently suffered an adductor injury that has once again ruled him out of match action. There have already been reports that he could miss the European Championships: „It will be difficult for him with regard to the European Championships. After the injury, he first has to come back, improve physically and find his way into the system,“ Desailly also noted sceptically.
But these are not the only problems facing FC Bayern’s French players. The young striker Mathys Tel, who Desailly believes has great potential, is also struggling with the strong competition in the team. „His problem is that he’s at Bayern – and there’s a lot of competition in his position,“ emphasised Desailly. Harry Kane is a big hurdle for Tel’s playing time as a set striker.

Neustart könnte ihm helfen seine Nerven in den Griff zu bekommen.
Ein Problem kann man mit Geld lösen. PSG bietet 60 Mio. für Upa und alle sind froh.
Tel braucht vor allem bessere Defensivarbeit. Gegen Real kann man ihn noch nicht bringen.
Erstaunlich hier wird im Chat Upa schlecht geredet, aber die selben Leute wollen dann einen Mondbetrag als Ablöse bekommen. Nach dem Motto „er sitzt zwar auf der Bank, aber 60 Mille muss ein Abnehmer schon bezahlen“ – das geht so weit an der Realität vorbei. Er wird ohnehin bleiben, zumindest noch ein weiteres Jahr.
Bin auch der Meinung, er sollte verkauft werden. Ist sicher enorm veranlagt. Hat schon Weltklasse-Aktionen gebracht. Aber leider mindestens genau so viele spielentscheidende Patzer. Das ist zu risikoreich.
Upa ist kein Problem für Frankreich, weil er nicht mehr in die erste Elf kommt. Er ist ein Sicherheitsrisiko, genau wie Pavard. Konnte man im Länderspiel deutlich sehen.
Er wird nicht schlechtgeredet. Beim FCB ist er ein Risikofaktor mit kontinuierlichen desaströsen Aussetzern. Deshalb nicht weiter rumprobieren – verkaufen.
In der französischen Nationalmannschaft ist er Stammspieler. Er ist jung. Er hat einen Marktwert. PSG könnte ein Interessent sein. Die stehen auf französische Nationalspieler.
Win/win
Ich finde auch, das es im Fall Upamecano überhaupt nichts mit seiner Person zu tun hat. Aber das er in der Kritik steht, hat er einzig und allein seiner Unkonzentriertheit zu verdanken. Daher bin ich auch der Meinung, ihn bei einem vernünftigen Angebot zu verkaufen. Die Bayern haben einen Risikofaktor weniger. Für ihn selbst könnte ein Wechsel auch gut sein.
Es gibt ja immer noch Leute die sagen, das er die Böcke nur bei Bayern gemacht hat. Ich kann mich gut erinnern, das es in Leipzig ähnlich war.
