Last week, the rumours surrounding a possible Bayern transfer for Frenkie de Jong picked up speed again. The German record champions wanted to sign the Dutchman years ago – and have never lost sight of him. Now he can apparently imagine leaving Barcelona.
According to the Spanish sports newspaper AS, De Jong is said to have come round to the idea of leaving the Catalans next summer. The Dutch international has signalled his willingness to embark on a new adventure after the season.
In line with this, Sky reports that Bayern are once again looking into signing De Jong. Munich officials are still planning to sign a central midfielder – regardless of whether Joshua Kimmich extends his contract.
However, the financial framework conditions of a possible transfer mean that the topic is not really hot yet. According to reports, Barca are demanding a transfer fee of around 70 million euros. Added to this is the exorbitantly high salary of an estimated 20 million – net!
De Jong is also rumoured to be on the wish list of other financially strong top teams. Manchester United and city rivals Manchester City, among others, are said to be considering signing the midfielder.
Rangnick is said to be a fan of De Jong
According to the latest reports, Ralf Rangnick is on the verge of signing a contract with FC Bayern and thus becoming Thomas Tuchel’s successor in the summer. The 65-year-old has reportedly been assured that he will be allowed to play an active role in the upcoming squad reorganisation.
He, in turn, is said to have already presented Bayern bosses with his ideas for the future Munich squad. In England, it has recently been rumoured that Rangnick would like to see the transfer of Frenkie De Jong, among others. Rangnick is considered a great admirer of the 26-year-old and reportedly wanted to sign him during his time at Manchester United.
Rangnick is also said to be in favour of a transfer of Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong. The winger has scored 24 goals in 40 competitive appearances this season and is one of the shooting stars of Leverkusen’s championship-winning team. He has also been a topic of discussion at Säbener Straße for some time and would be available for around €40 million in the summer thanks to a release clause.
