FC Bayern have been linked with the signing of Jeremie Frimpong for some time now. According to the latest reports, Munich are now serious in their bid for the Dutchman.
With 23 goals in 37 games, Jeremie Frimpong is one of the most dangerous full-backs in Europe. The 23-year-old has played his way into the focus of many top clubs with his strong performances, and FC Bayern has also been rumoured to be interested for some time.
As BILD head of football Christian Falk writes in his column for CaughtOffside, the German record champions, along with Manchester United and Real Madrid, have already registered their interest in the player. Munich are also said to be „already in concrete talks“ with the Dutchman’s management.
Frimpong’s future to be decided before EURO 2024
Even though the right-back is still contractually tied to Leverkusen until 2028, he can leave the Werkself early in the summer thanks to a release clause. This is said to amount to €40 million, which would be a very attractive transfer fee in view of his market value of €50 million.
According to Falk, Frimpong’s sporting future will be clarified in the coming weeks. The reason for this is that the Dutch national player has to pull his clause before the national football team.
One thing is clear: If Bayern are serious about Frimpong, there will be simultaneous departures on the right side of defence in the summer, as they already have two regular right-backs in Sacha Boey and Noussair Mazraoui. In addition, loanee Josip Stanisic will return to Munich at the end of the season.
While the Croatian is considered a certainty, also due to his flexibility in defence, the Bayern bosses would be willing to talk to Boey and Mazraoui about a sale.
