Florian Wirtz became German champion with Bayer Leverkusen at the age of just 20. The international also had an outstanding personal season. It’s no secret that FC Bayern has its eye on Wirtz. Now, however, those responsible in Munich are set to shift up a gear.
FC Bayern are now apparently going full throttle in their transfer endeavours for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz. According to information from transfer expert Ekrem Konur, the FCB bosses have put the 20-year-old German international at the top of their wish list for the summer.
According to kicker, Florian Wirtz is still a hot topic at the German record champions. According to the report, Munich management were very impressed by Wirtz’s teamwork with Bayern star Jamal Musiala in the German national team’s recent international matches in France (2:0) and against the Netherlands (2:1). The Leverkusen native is expected to become an important part of FC Bayern’s medium to long-term future. In order to realise this, the club will invest heavily.
Wirtz plays a masterful season at Leverkusen
If Wirtz were available this summer, the Bayern bosses would strike, according to kicker. However, they don’t think there is much chance of that happening. A deal would be more likely in 2025. However, a transfer could be expensive for Bayern: according to various media reports, Leverkusen would only consider a sale at a price of €120 million or more.
Not only Bayern, but actually all top European clubs are said to have Wirtz on their radar. No wonder, given the youngster’s performances for newly crowned German champions Leverkusen this season. In 41 competitive matches so far this season, the attacking midfielder has scored 17 goals and set up a further 18. He is set to become one of the defining figures for the German national team at the upcoming home European Championships in Germany.
