Due to the absence of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, Bayern have hardly any options in attack in the final stretch of the season. Nevertheless, Leroy Sané has now given the all-clear for the CL second leg against FC Arsenal.
Sané was absent from the 2-0 win against 1. FC Köln due to pubalgia. Thomas Tuchel was cautious as to whether the winger will be ready to return to action in time for the Champions League clash against FC Arsenal next Wednesday.
„With Leroy, it would be dubious of me to make a prediction. That wasn’t enough today. We’ll try to prepare him tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday with treatments and medication. We’ll do everything we can to make sure he can play on Wednesday,“ explained the Munich head coach.
Sané trains individually
Sané himself is doing everything he can to be involved against the Gunners. On Sunday morning, he completed a light build-up training session at Säbener Straße and did an individual session with runs and short sprints.
Speaking to BILD, the German international expressed his confidence that he will be able to play on Wednesday: „I hope so. It should work out!“
Just how important Sané is for FCB was evident in the 2-2 draw in the first leg, when the attacker was involved in both of Bayern’s goals. Sané’s speed in particular makes him a real weapon for Munich’s transitional play, which was the recipe for success in London.
Bayern are running out of options in the attacking wing positions, especially after the absences of Kingsley Coman (muscle bundle injury) and Serge Gnabry (torn muscle fibre). With Jamal Musiala, Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané, the attacking line-up behind Harry Kane is more or less self-sufficient. Behind them, Tuchel only has Bryan Zaragoza and Mathys Tel as back-ups.
