Harry Kane is having an outstanding first season at FC Bayern Munich. The striker is scoring non-stop for the German record champions and is chasing Robert Lewandowski’s record for goals this season. The 30-year-old has now been recognised for his achievements with an award.
With 38 goals for FC Bayern and Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, the star striker was the world’s top scorer in the top national leagues. The IFFHS has now honoured the 30-year-old’s great performances by naming him the best goalscorer of the past year.
The IFFHS is the international association of football statisticians. In addition to the award for the best goalscorer, the association also honours the best goalkeeper and the best referee of the year. Previously, ex-Bayern star Robert Lewandowski won the award twice in a row.

Kane is third top scorer overall
The ranking was based on the top 100 leagues in the world in 2023. The England captain scored 17 goals for Spurs in the first half of the year and a further 18 with the German record champions. The 30-year-old thus leaves Christiano Ronaldo (Al-Nassr) and Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain) behind, who both scored the second most league goals with 34.
Kane is in a strong third place in the ranking of top scorers across all competitions. Ronaldo scored two goals more (54 goals), while the Bayern star and Mbappé are level on 52 goals.
Since his arrival in Munich last summer, Harry Kane has scored 37 goals and set up a further 12. The Englishman is currently the undisputed top scorer in the Bundesliga with 31 goals. With seven games still to play, there is a good chance that Kane will break Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a season in his first year at Bayern.
