Would Roberto De Zerbi really be a suitable head coach for FC Bayern? A DFB star has already put in a good word for the Italian with the Bayern players.
Pascal Groß, midfield strategist for Brighton & Hove Albion, has, according to the Munich newspaper tz, raved about his coach Roberto De Zerbi in front of his national team colleagues, including the Bayern professionals. He was impressed by the Italian’s tactical level.
Groß is not the only one, as the Bavarian management team led by sports director Christoph Freund and sporting director Max Eberl are also convinced of the 44-year-old’s qualities. With his dominant possession football and focus on talent development, he fits perfectly into Munich’s requirements profile.
De Zerbi top favourite for Bayern job?
However, signing De Zerbi would not be a foregone conclusion. After all, he is being courted by numerous other top clubs and, according to the report, would cost around €14 million. A further snag in a possible appointment of the Brighton coach is his lack of experience at the very highest level.
Although there are legitimate doubts about De Zerbi, he currently appears to be FC Bayern’s preferred solution, as reported by English newspaper The Times. Sky also confirmed Bayern’s interest, with Max Eberl in particular being a big fan of the Italian head coach.
