So far, Joshua Kimmich’s future has been a big question mark. Several top clubs are vying for the FC Bayern star. Now there is said to be a favourite for a transfer.
Joshua Kimmich’s contract at FC Bayern runs until 2025 and an extension is currently uncertain. A departure in the summer would therefore be a distinct possibility.
According to El Nacional, Manchester City are the main favourites for a Kimmich transfer. The reason is said to be City head coach Pep Guardiola, who would like to use the 29-year-old alongside Rodri in midfield.
The midfielder already played under the Spaniard during Guardiola’s time at FC Bayern. According to the report, Joshua Kimmich is leaning towards a departure from Munich. A new adventure abroad would appeal to him.
There was recently a meeting between Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl and the player. However, it is said that these were only exploratory talks.
Kimmich is relaxed about his future
Bayern would probably demand around €65 million if Kimmich were to leave. According to El Nacional, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool FC and Inter Milan are also very interested alongside City. However, due to the club’s financial situation, FC Barcelona would only be able to make a transfer on a free transfer in the summer of 2025. However, FC Bayern are determined to prevent such a free transfer at all costs.
Kimmich himself is currently taking a relaxed approach to his situation: „The situation is very clear for me. I still have over a year left on my contract, so I’m relaxed,“ he told WELT. As with so many Bayern stars, the new coach is likely to play an important role in Kimmich’s decision.
