FC Bayern are significantly increasing the pressure on the Canadian in the contract poker with Alphonso Davies. According to the latest reports, the 23-year-old only has a few days left to accept the Munich club’s contract offer.
The contract poker with Alphonso Davies is entering the hot phase. Bayern have been trying to extend the Canadian’s contract for almost a year. Max Eberl recently emphasised that Munich have made the 23-year-old a very valuable offer and that he must now decide whether and how to continue at the end of the season.
As Sky reports, Bayern are no longer willing to be held back by the player. Bayern bosses are demanding a decision from the left-back in the course of this week.
Davies continues to demand 20 million euros per year
According to Sky, Davies has a contract ready to sign until 2029 with a total package of around €14 million gross per year. According to Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, the record champions „don’t want to waste any more time“. Eberl & Co. want planning security for the left side of defence, also in order to be able to start talks with potential replacement candidates in good time.
At the moment, there are many indications that he will leave. The reason: Davies‘ management is still demanding an annual salary of 20 million euros. A sum that Bayern will not pay. If no agreement is reached, the Isar club will be looking to sell him in the summer. This should bring in a transfer fee of between 50 and 60 million euros.
Alaba wants to lure Davies to Madrid
There is already a concrete buyer in Real Madrid. The Whites have been linked with Davies for some time now. The problem is that the Spaniards do not want to pay too high a transfer fee due to the relatively short remaining term of his contract. According to Sky, Real are looking for a sum well under 50 million euros. Madrid are said to be prepared to wait another year for Davies and sign him on a free transfer in 2025.
Particularly explosive: according to Sky, ex-Bayern professional David Alaba is said to be „making a move to Spain palatable“ for Davies. The two played together in Munich for almost three years and are considered good friends. Alaba moved from Bayern to Real on a free transfer in 2021.
