FC Bayern is set for a shake-up next summer and the first transfer rumours are already surfacing. As an insider reveals, Liverpool FC are only really interested in one FC Bayern star.
It’s not just FC Bayern that needs to make changes on the coaching bench – Liverpool FC are also facing changes following the departure of Jürgen Klopp. Will the Reds also poach the German record champions or will they perhaps even ensure that Xabi Alonso moves to Liverpool rather than Munich? In his column for CaughtOffside, LFC insider Neil Jones talks about the Reds‘ interest in a certain Bayern star, namely Jamal Musiala.
On Musiala’s departure: top clubs in position
According to the report, the attacking player with English roots is currently the only one in the Bayern squad that Liverpool are interested in. „I know that Bayern really want to keep him. But I also know that pretty much every other top club, including Liverpool FC, wants to be in the conversation if he were to leave,“ the journalist said. In addition to Liverpool, the insider also reckons that Real Madrid and Manchester City will make advances should the 21-year-old decide to leave FC Bayern.
„Whenever I’ve asked, Liverpool’s position has always been: yes, of course we think he’s good. But as far as I know, there’s nothing more concrete yet,“ continued Jones, who himself assumes that the Stuttgart native will remain at FCB: „If I were a betting man, I’d put my money on him staying at Bayern – although I’d love to see him at Anfield,“ predicted the journalist.
Other Bayern stars such as Joshua Kimmich, meanwhile, would be given a „wide berth“ by those responsible, while rumours surrounding Serge Gnabry are „far-fetched“. Due to his age and the fact that Gnabry hasn’t played much recently, the insider rules out a possible transfer to Liverpool, as he did in the case of Leroy Sané, who doesn’t fit into the concept.
