It’s a dream come true for Jamal Musiala: the Bayern star will be wearing jersey number 10 for the upcoming international matches with the German national team. The 21-year-old is delighted with his new number.
„The number 10 has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid,“ emphasised Jamal Musiala in an interview with ARD and RTL. „When I was watching Messi, it was always my wish to be able to wear the number 10,“ revealed the FC Bayern attacking player.
Musiala will be allowed to wear the prestigious shirt number for the upcoming international matches against France and the Netherlands because his Bayern team-mate Serge Gnabry was not nominated.
„I don’t let that get into my head too much“
According to Musiala, however, it’s less about him and his shirt number and more about the DFB squad and the performances in the next two test matches: „I’m not letting it get into my head too much and I’m playing exactly the same way. We have to deliver game after game as a whole team. That can be pressure, but also motivation.“
Musiala also revealed that national coach Julian Nagelsmann has told him to be „free“ in his actions and decisions and to look for his dribbles. Nevertheless, he should not neglect his defensive work and should help the team. Musiala himself wants to break out of his „comfort zone“. Compared to the 2021 European Championship, he is a better leader who wants to „take his colleagues along and push them“, says Musiala.
