On the pitch, centre-back Eric Dier is currently putting in strong performances week in, week out. Now the Englishman explains his reasons for his love of the city and the club.
For several weeks now, Dier has had a good run alongside Matthijs de Ligt in the back four. Now the 30-year-old has enthused about FC Bayern and the city of Munich.
„Obviously there is a difference between my personal situation and that of the team. Individually, I’m happy with how things have gone for me. But much more important is the team, and everyone knows that we’ve had a difficult two months. The results weren’t right, then came the announcement of Thomas Tuchel’s departure in the summer,“ Dier told kicker. Head coach Tuchel is currently more than satisfied with the defence duo.
Dier: „I’m very happy here“
Dier also likes the club’s values, culture and philosophy. The man with the number 15 also mentions a big factor besides football: the whole city of Munich suits him. „I love the city! Munich is much quieter than London, the traffic isn’t as bad. I’m someone who prefers to be out in nature rather than in the city, so there are lots of beautiful places around Munich that I’ve already been able to visit,“ says Dier.
The Englishman continues: „I have everything I need and I’m very happy here. I like living in other countries and getting to know new things. It’s exciting. After nine and a half years in England, the change is a nice experience.“
Dier also likes the people in Munich: „The people are very nice and respectful. FC Bayern is a big part of the culture of this city, I’m aware of that. So it’s no problem if I’m recognised,“ explained the 49-time England international.
