Despite the clear 5:2 away win at Darmstadt 98, FC Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel finds reason to criticise. The coach is also worried about injuries during the international break.
After his team’s 5-2 win at bottom-of-the-table Darmstadt, Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel also found things he didn’t like.
„We also had some difficulties with the first goal we conceded and the chances Darmstadt created,“ criticised Tuchel at the post-match press conference: „We weren’t compact enough and lost a lot of second balls. I think we were a little too comfortable on the ball at times.“
Nevertheless, the 50-year-old was also happy about his team’s victory at the Böllenfalltor stadium: „We are naturally delighted with the well-deserved away win. We created many great chances throughout the game and I think we deserved to score so many goals,“ said Tuchel.
Tuchel: „We have a good atmosphere“
The coach recognised an overall upturn in Bayern’s fortunes: „All in all, we had a good week. The situation in the squad is getting better and better with the return of the injured players.“
Munich’s personnel situation has indeed improved significantly. In Darmstadt, nine professional players were on the substitutes‘ bench. That’s the limit in the Bundesliga, which is why new winter signing Bryan Zaragoza wasn’t even called up to the squad.
Tuchel, who will leave Bayern after the current season, sees a good atmosphere in the team: „We have a good atmosphere and are training well – I’m glad that we were able to move on with today’s win,“ he said.
Now the majority of the Bayern professionals are off to their national teams – the German national team, for example, play in France (23 March) and against the Netherlands (26 March).
Tuchel hopes that none of his players will get injured: „I hope that everyone will come back fit from the international break,“ the coach concluded.
