FC Bayern is fighting for Alphonso Davies. Despite persistent rumours of a move to Real Madrid, the Munich club want to extend the Canadian’s contract. As has now become known, a meeting between Bayern and the player’s side took place this week.
Sporting director Christoph Freund has recently expressed optimism with regard to a contract extension for Alphonso Davies.
The Austrian explained this week that it is „not at all unlikely“ that the 23-year-old will sign a contract with the German record champions.
As BILD reports, there is a concrete reason for Bayern’s optimism. According to the newspaper, a secret meeting took place on Tuesday between Munich (Max Eberl and Christoph Freund) and Alphonso Davies‘ advisor Nick Huoseh in Munich.
Will the new Bayern offer be enough?

According to BILD, Bayern have made Davies a new contract offer. This is said to amount to 14 million euros per year. The contract runs for five years until 2029.
Whether this offer will be enough to extend his contract in Munich, which expires in 2025, remains to be seen. According to BILD, Davies‘ management is demanding 20 million euros. This would make the left-back one of the top earners at the German record champions.
Both parties remain in dialogue. Davids has not yet made a final decision on what will happen to him in the summer. It is still possible that Davies will stay – should the two parties agree on a salary.
If no agreement is reached, Bayern will look to sell him. At Säbener Straße, they are hoping for a transfer fee of up to 70 million euros. There is already a concrete interested party in Real Madrid. According to reports, however, the Spaniards‘ financial pain threshold is 30-40 million euros.
