Stay in the Netherlands, move to a top club, return to Munich? There is now a trend regarding the future of Joshua Zirkzee.
Not good news for Joshua Zirkzee: the former FC Bayern professional, who caused a sensation in Serie A with eleven goals and six assists in 30 appearances in all competitions for FC Bologna, will be out of action until the end of March due to a hamstring injury. The Dutchman’s main aim is to be fit again for the European Championships in Germany. Will his injury now also cloud his future prospects at club level? According to information from Sky, a Zirkzee return to FCB is currently „not a hot topic“.
In August 2022, the 22-year-old, who is still waiting to play his first international match for the Netherlands‘ senior national team, moved from FC Bayern to FC Bologna after previously gaining experience at Parma Calcio and RSC Anderlecht.
Zirkzee: Top Italian clubs interested
Despite the aforementioned scoring rate in the Italian league, which is impressive, a return to FCB does not appear to be a top priority. AC Milan, Inter and Juventus, on the other hand, have the attacker on their radar and would probably be prepared to pay 35 to 40 million euros for him.
As Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s contract is highly unlikely to be extended, a place in the attacking squad could become available.
bayern would probably have to put €20 million on the table for the player as part of the buy-back clause – or pocket the resale fee in order to use the income for the planned reorganisation of the squad elsewhere.
