Speech in the dressing room before the Lazio game: Kane becomes FC Bayern’s leading player
Harry Kane is FC Bayern’s walking life insurance this season. Not only is the Englishman scoring goals like a conveyor belt, the 30-year-old has also become a real leading player for the German record champions.
With 33 goals in 33 appearances, Harry Kane is having a fabulous season for FC Bayern. With his brace against Lazio Rome during the week, the top scorer was instrumental in Munich’s 3-0 win over the Italians, which also secured FCB’s place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
As has now become known, Kane is also taking on more and more responsibility off the pitch. According to BILD head of football Christian Falk, the Englishman gave a so-called „leader speech“ in the dressing room before the final against Lazio Roma.
Kane is determined to reach the CL final
As BILD reporter Tobi Altschäffl reported in the Bayern Insider podcast, Kane wanted to shake up his team-mates with the dressing room talk. The striker is said to have criticised the lack of team spirit.
Even though Bayern have many experienced professionals in players such as Joshua Kimmich, Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer, there is still said to be a kind of leadership crisis within FCB. Kane wanted to close this gap with his speech ahead of the important second leg against Lazio Roma.
While Bayern’s chances of winning the Bundesliga title are minimal, the Champions League is Munich’s last hope of avoiding a title-less season. Kane in particular is especially motivated in the premier class. The striker is desperate to reach the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium in „his“ city of London.
The 30-year-old hopes that the win against Roma heralds a turning point for FC Bayern: „Nights like tonight can change the season. I’m very proud of the lads. We have to take this momentum with us now.“
