Aleksandar Pavlovic is FC Bayern’s big discovery this season. The youngster has impressed across the board since his first appearance in defensive midfield. TV pundit Dietmar Hamann is certain: the 19-year-old has displaced Joshua Kimmich from the six-man position and is now a fixture there.
„He has displaced Joshua Kimmich, who was our six-man in the national team until a few months ago, to the right side of defence,“ explained Didi Hamann in his Sky column. The TV pundit also emphasised that the 19-year-old is the undisputed number one in Bayern’s midfield.
In each of the German record champions‘ last three games, Pavlovic was given the nod in midfield. Joshua Kimmich switched to the right-back position. Although Munich’s personnel situation was the main reason for this at the start, Konrad Laimer was also fit again at right-back against Lazio Roma. Nevertheless, the switch from the previous two matches was retained.
Kimmich puts himself at the service of the team
This decision paid off for Thomas Tuchel. Pavlovic once again impressed in the centre of midfield and made a major contribution to the 3-0 win with important passes. Hamann also had praise for Joshua Kimmich in this situation. „You have to give credit to Kimmich, who has had to take a lot of criticism recently, for putting himself at the service of the team and praising Pavlovic after the game,“ said the Sky pundit.
