In recent weeks, there have been many rumours and speculations about Mathys Tel’s sporting future at FC Bayern. The young Frenchman has even been linked with a departure in the summer. According to consistent reports, the top talent will extend his contract with the German record champions ahead of time.

Mathys Tel was one of the winners at FC Bayern last week. He had to make do with the role of joker in the Bundesliga under Thomas Tuchel for the entire season. Last weekend, he replaced the injured Leroy Sane in the starting eleven at Freiburg and promptly made the most of his chance to prove himself. He impressively demonstrated his qualities with the dream goal that equalised the score at 1:1.

Max Eberl felt vindicated by this goal. At his inaugural press conference, the new sporting director repeatedly emphasised the importance of the talented French striker for Bayern: „It must be possible to successfully lead Bayern to titles and still shape their development. We also want to promote the development of players like Tel,“ emphasised the new Munich sporting director.

Bayern binds Tel to itself in the long term

The words were followed by deeds. Sporting director Christoph Freund met with Tel’s advisor Gadiri Camara for talks last week. Although the new head coach is not yet known, those responsible have already promised Tel that he will be an important part of the club’s future. The new coach is expected to make Tel an „important player“ for FC Bayern.

As the French newspaper L’Equipe reports, both sides have agreed on a contract extension as part of the talks. According to the report, the 19-year-old will extend his contract early by two years until 2029. Le Parisien has confirmed the news. The signing is expected to take place later today.

According to information from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Tel advisor Camara is currently in Munich to finalise the deal. According to Romano, Tel can expect a significant salary increase.
