Amid speculation surrounding the future of Alphonso Davies at FC Bayern, the focus is now increasingly on a potential new signing for the German record champions‘ left side of defence. The focus is on Theo Hernandez from AC Milan. The brother of ex-Bayern player Lucas Hernandez is said to be open to a move.
Initial talks between Hernandez’s camp and FC Bayern are said to have already taken place. According to reports, the Hernandez side is said to be quite open to a transfer. Munich estimate the cost of a transfer for the French international at around 60 to 70 million euros. This estimate is in contrast to the sum of 80 to 100 million euros rumoured in the Italian media.
The need to look for alternatives arises from the uncertain situation surrounding Alphonso Davies. It seems increasingly unlikely that he will remain in Munich. Sky could be facing a separation, as Davies‘ salary demands for a contract extension clearly exceed FC Bayern’s financial expectations. The Canadian is demanding 20 million euros per year.
Should Davies leave the club, Hernandez would be an ideal replacement for the vacant position on the left side of defence.
Hernandez impresses as vice-captain in Milan
Despite his close ties to Milan and his role as vice-captain of the Rossoneri, Hernandez does not appear to be averse to a move. This openness to a „change of scenery“, as rumoured in Bayern circles, could pave the way for negotiations.
In addition to Hernandez, Miguel Gutierrez from FC Girona is also being touted as a possible reinforcement. However, he is not rated as highly internally as the Milan star.
Hernandez is currently regarded as one of the best left-backs in the world. The 26-year-old French international has played 34 games for Milan this season. For a defender, he scored four goals and provided 9 assists.
