After losing the first leg 1-0 in Rome, FC Bayern qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a commanding 3-0 win against Lazio at the Allianz Arena. Thomas Tuchel injured himself before the game – during the motivational speech.
Thomas Tuchel has won his „final match“ against Lazio Rome. FC Bayern celebrated a 3:0 victory against the Italians on Tuesday evening and are now through to the last eight of the Champions League.
The Munich head coach was satisfied with his team’s performance after the game: „We were very disciplined. It was a very solid performance. We didn’t lose our heads. We were much braver and played better than in the first leg. The second goal came at the perfect time. We put in a very cohesive team performance to secure a deserved win.“
„I don’t think I can get out of this shoe“
Curiously, Tuchel said that he had injured himself before the game and even had to be treated by team doctors: „I kicked something during the motivational speech and injured my big toe. I don’t think I can get out of the boot at all. The team probably wondered why I was sitting for almost 90 minutes.“
