Coach Thomas Tuchel is looking forward to working with new sporting director Max Eberl. He even hints that he would have liked to work with him for longer.
At his last press conference, Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel was still annoyed by the many management changes at Bayern. However, the coach is looking forward to working personally with the new sporting director Max Eberl.
„He’s a very pleasant person,“ said Tuchel about Eberl ahead of Bayern’s match at SC Freiburg on DAZN.
Tuchel, who has to leave Bayern after the season, even hinted that he would have liked to continue working with Eberl for longer: „It’s very nice to have him around now,“ said Tuchel: „Unfortunately not for so long. I think that could be good. But it is what it is. We both want to do well in the last few games.“
Tuchel made it clear that he would not mince his words with Eberl on sporting issues in the future either: „Internally, I am always ruthlessly open. But we are also self-critical. That won’t change with Max either.“
Tuchel on Eberl: „He fits in“
On his critical statements about the many management changes at FC Bayern and the poor timing before competitive matches in his opinion, Tuchel said:„I’m the coach, I have nothing to say about that. I’ve known Max for a long time. And it’s all been confirmed. He fits in. That’s not a problem. It’s just a new situation.“
On the pitch, Tuchel wants to take the liberty of not worrying too much about the alignment of the opponent in future.
„We no longer worry about the opposition, we just worry about ourselves,“ said the German record champions‘ coach, referring to the situation in which he wants to approach every game like a cup match.
