FC Bayern will face Lazio Roma in the Champions League round of 16, according to today’s draw in Nyon, Switzerland. The German record champions will first play the first leg in Italy in mid-February 2022. The second leg will take place in March at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
After the group stage is before the knockout round! FC Bayern qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners with five wins and one draw and are among the favourites in the top flight. Thomas Tuchel and his team are making no secret of the fact that they want to have a say in winning the title this season.
However, the road to the final in London on June 1 is still a long one. FC Bayern will first face Lazio Roma in the last 16 of the Champions League, according to today’s draw at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
Duels in the round of 16 of the 2020/21 season
Bayern and Lazio have already faced each other twice in the Champions League. Munich won both encounters in the round of 16 of the 2020/21 season (4:1 in Rome, 2:1 in Munich).
Lazio made it through to the round of 16 in Group E behind Atletico Madrid. Coach Maurizio Sarri’s team are currently eleventh in Serie A with 21 points from 16 games.
The first legs of the round of 16 will take place on February 13/14 and 20/21. The second legs will be played on March 5/6 and 12/13, 2023. UEFA will announce the exact dates later today.
