Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee moved to Italian club FC Bologna from Bayern Munich in the summer on a permanent transfer. The Bavarians have also secured a buyback clause on his contract.

So far, the 21 years old has not been able to have his breakthrough at the Italian club. Zirkzee has only played 2 games for Bologna out of 5, where only 30 minutes have been his playing time. The striker moved to Bologna on a fee of 8.5 million euros, which will be paid in installments.

In a recent statement, Zirkzee clarified that he does not rule out a Bayern Munich return in the future. After all, this is where Zirkzee had his first breakthrough as a young player. But due to the need for profit and the demand for player development, Bayern sold the striker in the summer.

„In the distant future, I would like to come back [to Bayern] Who doesn’t want to play for FC Bayern? That would be a dream“, said Zirkzee in the club’s press conference.

Asked whether he spoke to head coach Julian Nagelsmann about a possible return, Zirkzee responded: “I haven’t really talked to Nagelsmann, as soon as he heard about my arrival here he said he was really happy and wished me well“

Despite his difficult start at Bologna, the Dutch striker remains convinced that he made the right decision to come back to Italy: “It wasn’t a choice related to Serie A but to the club. I have very good feelings towards the club and the coach, that’s why I chose to come here“, continued Zirkzee.
